  • Ants

Arc City's public infrastructure is maintained by a swarm of mechanical insects shaped like leaf cutter ants. Their dog-sized brass bodies are a regular sight, whether they're fixing a utility pole, cleaning a public fountain, or patching a building facade. The citizenry gratefully ignores the ants, and the ants don't even seem to look around long enough to notice anything at all.

The best and brightest can be found within the halls of the Collegia Splendida's member universities. • Hive

So-named because of the single-minded loyalty of its members, this is Arc City's organized crime syndicate. The Hive's criminal masterminds have never been identified, let alone caught. However, a steady stream of periodic lower-level arrests has appeased residents' frustration with Arc City's most persistent criminal element. So far.

Most homes have a Tangle line, in addition to public access booths on busy street corners.
